BACKGROUND:

Ms. Brady started her school counseling career as an intern at Belmar Elementary School in 2016.  Since then she has worked in the Monmouth County Vocational School District as a school counselor.  Ms. Brady is thrilled to return to Belmar and looks forward to working with students, families, and community members this year!

Ms. Brady is a native New Yorker who now lives in Spring Lake with her three sons Michael, Matthew, and Sean.

WHAT DOES THE GUIDANCE COUNSELOR DO?

  • aids teachers and parents in helping students

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING

Belmar Elementary School offers individual counseling to assist students find solutions to issues including:

  • Personal & Social

SMALL GROUP COUNSELING

Small groups are beneficial to students because it allows them to share their thoughts and feelings with their peers under the guidance of the school counselor.

Topics may include:

  • Anger Management
  • Self Esteem
  • Anxiety
  • Divorce
  • Grief
  • Making & Keeping Friends

CLASSROOM COUNSELING

The school counselor frequently visits the classroom to discuss broad topics related to a particular age group. Some topics may include:

  • Starting the Year
  • Following Directions
  • Character Education
  • Career Exploration
  • Bullying
  • Positive School Behavior

PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy includes recognizing that every child is unique and has different abilities and needs.  I firmly believe that all children can learn!  It is my mission to connect with all students, ensuring that every child is receiving the instruction needed to be successful in life.  I’m passionate about preparing our children with the 21st century skills needed to think objectively and be life-long learners.

At our annual High School Information Night parents and students from Belmar and Lake Como are invited to attend. Information regarding the various High Schools will be presented and the options for the students will be discussed as well as the process for assigning students to a High School. In attendance will be representatives from Asbury Park HS, Manasquan HS, Red Bank Regional HS, Neptune and Academy Charter HS.

Any student interested in attending a Monmouth County Vocational Academy MUST attend the Open House night for that school. All questions regarding HS placement should be directed to the Superintendent and questions regarding various HS options and programs may be discussed with the Superintendent or Ms. Brady.
