Belmar Elementary School will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, April 8, due to an HVAC issue.

As you may know, we experienced power outages last Friday. We believe those power surges may have damaged the sensitive electronic components that control our boilers. Technicians have been working throughout the day, but with tonight’s temperatures expected to drop into the 30s, our remaining heating systems will not be able to keep the building warm enough to safely open school in the morning.

The malfunctioning part is being shipped from out of state and is expected to arrive tomorrow morning. Once installed, the heating system will need several hours to bring the building to a safe temperature. We are hopeful that school will reopen on Wednesday, and we will keep you updated as the situation progresses.
